Summer Programs

 

Learn, grow, play, and have fun this summer! KidSpirit has an innovative youth summer day camp program, which offers two-week and one-week sessions, Monday-Friday for children grades K-12. Youth may attend morning, afternoon, or all day sessions. Programs are based on grade levels in the Fall.

All activities are coeducational and kids with all abilities are welcome! Group leaders will help in classes and escort children to activity areas. Head instructors plan, organize and lead activities. The camp staff emphasize skill develompment, group cooperation and socialization, safety and fun!

Session Dates & Fees 2008

Half-day base price is $98 for ONE-Week sessions and $185 for TWO-week sessions. Additional fees for speciality classes, including but not limited to, rock climbing, bowling, SKIES, and art camps (prices noted on session schedules). See specific age group and schedule choice for more pricing details.

Additional Fees

Pre-Care 7:00 to 8:30 AM: Pre-Care is available for $15/week. We do allow drop-ins for Pre-Care for $6/day. Check-in for Pre-care will be in 126 Langton Hall.

Lunch-Care 12:00 to 1:00 PM: Lunch-Care is available for Half Day campers for $10/week or $4/day. Lunch-Care is free for Full Day campers.

After-Care 4:30 to 5:30 PM: After-care is available for $10/week or $4/day. Check-out for After-care will be at the Memorial Union quad. In case of extreme heat or rain, After-care will be moved to the upstairs Langton gym. Signs will be posted for your convenience.

Discounts

Create a Full-day Session and receive a discount. Lunch supervision is provided for all Full-day participants.

  • Full-Day Discounts: $26 for ONE-week, $52 for TWO-week sessions
  • PrePaid Discount: For every 4 weeks PREPAID, you receive a $10 discount
  • OSU affiliates Discount (staff, faculty, student) with OSU card. TWO-Week sessions: $6/Half-day session per child or $12/Full-Day session per child

Payments

At the time of registration, payment of one full session is required and a minimum of a $25 deposit for each additional session. The $25 deposit will be applied towards the tuition, however, it will not be refunded if you cancel or make changes. Each session must be paid in full two-weeks prior to the start date.

Class Cancellations & Refunds

KidSpirit Cancellation: KidSpirit reserves the right to cancel or combine classes classes that are below the minimum participant requirement. Should cancellations occur, KidSpirit's staff will contact the participant's family about alternative classes. If weather conditions cause us to cancel class, KidSpirit will leave information on a recorded message at (541) 737-KIDS (5437).

Participant Cancellation and Changes: A $25 fee will be charged on all activity cancellations and will be deducted from your credit. Once classes have begun,
there will be no refunds. Exceptions are medical or family emergencies, with a doctor’s note and/or other
documentation.

Absences

Please send a note or call the office at (541) 737-KIDS (5437) if your child will be absent. There will be no make-up classes for any summer camp programs.

Allergies & Medications

Please inform the KidSpirit office of any allergies and/or medications that your child is currently taking. All campers requiring medication at camp must fill out an additional form and bring the medication in the original bottle to the KidSpirit office, in 125 Langton Hall, before the start of the camp session.

Lunch Time

Each camper brings his or her own lunch. During lunch, campers are assigned to small groups. Each with a counselor who supervises them. All visitors who wish to have lunch with a camper must be on the child’s authorized check-out/visitor list(see Visitor Passes). If a child forgets a lunch, a parent will be notified. KidSpirit will buy a lunch for them at a charge of $6.

Lunch-Care for Full-day campers

Lunch-Care for Half-day campers is from 12 to 1 PM

  • There is an additional cost of $10/week or $4/day.
  • For Half-day morning campers, lunch-care check-out is at 1pm, at the lunch supervisor’s table located in the Memorial Union walkway.
  • For Half-day afternoon campers, lunch-care check-in is at 12 pm in the Memorial Union walkway at the lunch supervisor’s table. Campers will receive their name tags and be escorted to their lunch group.

What To Wear

To be properly dressed for active classes, all campers MUST wear athletic shoes. Swim classes require a swimsuit and towel. Gymnastics classes require clothing to be free of buttons and zippers and long hair pulled back.

Friday Dress-Up Days

Campers have the option of dressing up every Friday of camp! Please remember when putting together outfits that campers need to be able to actively participate in their classes. Staff will be dressed up as well, so get creative!

What To Bring

Bring a backpack with a lunch (if staying for the lunch hour), a water bottle, snack and sunscreen. KidSpirit will provide all of the necessary equipment for camp classes. Campers may bring their own equipment, but KidSpirit will not be held liable for any loss or damage.

What Not to Bring

Games, toys, stuffedanimals, trading cards or electronic devices are not appropriate for camp and should be left at home. All cell phones must remain off during camp hours. Messages for your child can be left at the KidSpirit
office.

Visitor Passes

Visitors must first check-in at the KidSpirit office, Langton 125, where they will be required to show picture ID verifying they are on the approved pick-up/visitor list. A visitor pass will be issued and is to be worn at all times.

Check-In & Check-Out

Check-In and Check-Out tables are arranged by last names at the Memorial Union Walkway. During Check-In, campers will pick up their name tags and be escorted to their groups by KidSpirit staff. In case of rain or extreme heat, Check-In and Check-Out will be in the Langton Hall gym on the 2nd floor. For all late arrivals and early pick-ups please go to the KidSpirit office, 125 Langton Hall.

Check-In

  • MORNING * Half-Day and Full-Day - arrive 8:20 AM, camp starts at 8:30 AM
  • AFTERNOON * Half-Day - arrive 12:50 PM.

Check-Out

  • MORNING * Half-Day campers - 12:00 PM.
  • AFTERNOON * Half-Day and Full-Day campers - 4:30 PM.
  • Lunch-care campers check-out - 1:00 PM.
  • Parent/Guardian Check-Out: Anyone picking up a child mustbe on the child’s visitor/check-out list.Photo ID is required.
  • Self Check-Out:
    • Children must be 10 years or older to be self-check out.
    • Self check-out campers will sign themselves out of camp at a designated table in the Memorial Union walkway.
    • Once they have signed out, KidSpirit relinquishes all responsibility.

Scholarships


Scholarships will be awarded based on need and the availability of funds.

Summer 2008 Scholarship Deadlines

Application Due Date: May 19, 2008 new deadline is May 30, 2008!
Award Letters will be Mailed: June 2, 2008
Award Letters must be Returned by: June 9, 2008

Application Requirements

  1. Complete a KidSpirit Scholarship Application& Registration Form for each child. The registration forms will show us what your need is.
  2. Submit a one-page statement describing your child's circumstances for requesting a KidSpirit
    Scholarship.
  3. Submit a letter of recommendation from a non- family member (if possible) addressing the parent/guardian's level of need and how/why the KidSpirit Scholarship will benefit your child.
  4. Include a copy of a current pay stub and document all additional sources of monthly income (if you are a student, please provide proof of that).
